In its second contest with Saint Louis in as many days, Akron fell to the Billikens, 12-2, to start the day.
Â
Redshirt freshman Sydney Jascoe (Commerce, Mich.) and redshirt junior Kimberly Rodriguez (Las Vegas, Nevada) continued their impressive weekend at the plate going a combined 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Â
Akron scored one run in the third inning after Jascoe doubled to right-center scoring pinch runner Sabria Bruton (Palmetto, Fla.) from third base. The Zips struck again in the fifth inning when Rodriguez doubled to lead off the inning and junior Laura Lakins (Akron, Ohio) grounded out to the shortstop which allowed Rodriguez to score.
Â
After holding a 3-1 leading heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Billikens scored nine runs in their fourth at-bats claiming a 12-1 lead.
Â

Â
A pitching duel between Akron's freshman Mikayla Newland (Chillicothe, Ohio) and Western Carolina's Haley Brogden highlighted game two between the Zips and Catamounts as WCU took home a 4-1 victory.
Â
