AKRON, Ohio— Akron football is excited to host Arkansas Pine Bluff in its home opener in football on Saturday. Several updates have been made to enhance the fans' game day experience.

Promotions

Touchdown Music Fest
Roots rockers JD McPherson and Nikki Lane will co-headline the second annual Touchdown Music Fest. The music festival is FREE to the public. Gates open at 2 PM. Music begins at 3 PM.

Heroes Day
Honoring all military, veterans, fire, police, and first responders. FREE tickets for all military members, veterans, and family members through the Tickets for Troops program. Valid military ID required.

Touch a Truck Event
Get up close with a police squad car and firetruck among other vehicles parked on Vine Street.

Band Day
More than 500 students from five area high school marching bands will join the University of Akron Marching Band in a halftime salute to America.

ZipsFest, presented by Summa Health
Two hours prior to each game, kids and families are invited to the Stile Athletics Field House for ZipsFest, presented by Summa Health. Features inflatable bounce houses and obstacle course, face painting, and balloon artist. ZipsFest closes 30 minutes prior to kickoff.

New Roo Run
All incoming freshmen are invited to run out onto the field with the team through the AK-ROOWARDS App! The first 1,000 freshmen will receive a FREE New Roo Run t-shirt.

Zippy's Kids Corner
Located by Gate 4, Zippy's Kids Corner features pictures with Zippy, an inflatable Zippy, football toss, poster making station, face painting, and balloon animals. Zippy's Kids Corner closes at the end of halftime.

Game Day Timeline

7 AM                   Parking lots 6, 8, 9, 10, and 72 open for tailgating.
                             All other lots will open four hours prior to kickoff.

9 AM                   Main Ticket Office (near Gate 1, Southwest corner) opens.

Noon                   Team Shop opens at the stadium.

2 PM                   Gates to Touchdown Music Fest open.
                            Enter on Union Street side.

                           Team Shop trailer opens at Touchdown Music Fest.

                           Clevelander Ray Flanagan takes the 330 Roadshow stage.

2:30 PM              Pay parking lots open.

3 PM                   Touchdown Music Fest begins with Nikki Lane.

4:15 PM              Ohio's Pride– The UA Marching Band performs at the Touchdown Music Fest.

4:30 PM              Zips' Football team arrival at the corner of Exchange and Union (Lot 6)

                            ZipsFest opens inside Stile Athletics Field House.

4:45 PM              J.D. McPherson takes the stage at the Touchdown Music Fest.

5 PM                   House of LaRose Lobby opens.

5:30 PM              Stadium gates open.
                           Ticket windows at each gate open.

6:30 PM              Kickoff vs. Arkansas Pine Bluff

Halftime              Meet-and-Greet with J.D. McPherson & Nikki Lane [Gate 4]

Postgame           Autograph session with four Zips [north endzone concourse]

                           Children welcomed to play on the field [after cooling off period].

Game Day Updates

Concessions:        A new food option at games this year is the Old Carolina True Q Zone,
                                located on the North Endzone Concourse.

Parking:                 Tailgating cash lots are $20. Non-tailgating cash lots are $10.

                                Handicapped parking is now located in Lot 1 (garage) which is $10.

                                Roo Shuttle Express service begins two hours prior to kickoff from with stops at Lot 1, Lot 36,
                                Stadium Gate 1, and corner of Spicer/Vine (near Stadium Gate 3) only.
                                Service resumes postgame.

                                Golf cart service has been discontinued.

                                The visiting team parking lot is Lot 52.

UA Students:        FREE admission with student ID
                               Enter the stadium through any gate.

                               Student guest tickets can be purchased for a discounted rate by showing their Zip card
                               at the ticket office on game day.

Family Plan:          New and improved. $240 for the 4 season tickets which includes parking and concessions vouchers
                               and reserved seating on the east side.
                               We also have a single game family plan for $44 (includes 4 tickets).

2017 TAILGATING GUIDELINES

The following are the tailgating guidelines applicable to The University of Akron football games played at InfoCision Stadium- Summa Field. These guidelines are relevant to University owned surface lots, parking decks, and campus owned green space designated for tailgating. The University of Akron tailgating policy is designed to ensure:

The comfort and enjoyment of game day patrons.
The safety, security and well-being of all people associated with game day activities.
The safeguarding and preservation of all public property under the management of the University.

All guests on campus are required to comply with applicable University policies and State of Ohio laws and regulations.
Possession and consumption of alcohol on the property of The University of Akron, including its buildings, facilities, grounds, and parking areas is subject to the laws and regulations of the State of Ohio.
Overnight parking, including recreational vehicles, is permitted only in designated parking lots with the prior approval of Parking and Transportation Services (parking@uakron.edu or 330.972.7213).
Lots 6, 8, 9, 10, and 72 will be open at 7 a.m. on game days. All other campus parking lots will open four (4) hours prior to each game.
Vehicle and related tailgating activities can occupy no more than one (1) parking space and must not interfere with traffic lanes and vehicular or pedestrian movement. Saving spaces for other vehicles is not permitted.
The unauthorized distribution or sale of merchandise, food or beverages is prohibited. Outside caterers are prohibited without prior application and approval from Aramark.
The use of small gas grills is permitted in open surface parking lots. The use of charcoal grills is permitted in Lots 8, 9, and 10. Grills are prohibited in parking decks.
Tents larger than 10'x10' are not allowed in tailgating areas. The use and location of larger tents must be approved by the University prior to the day of game and may require special permits. Tents or other raised structures cannot be secured directly into the ground or pavement. Tents must be attended at all times.
Guests are required to bag and dispose of all trash and recyclable products.
Portable rest rooms will be available adjacent to designated tailgating areas on game day. University buildings and restrooms are available per each building's game day guidelines.
The University of Akron reserves the right to restrict tailgating at its discretion due to game time, weather conditions, etc.
