DETROIT— The Akron Zips football team, along with the other 11 members of the Mid-American Conference, officially kicked off the 2016 season on Thursday at MAC Football Media Day, held at Ford Field.
Head coach Terry Bowden, senior cornerback DeAndre Scott (Frederick, Md.), and junior quarterback Thomas Woodson (Monroeville, Pa.) participated in this year's event, meeting with more than 100 media members from around the conference.
Media day, which was covered live on ESPN3, marked the first for the two Zips' players. Both took some time to talk about their experience as well as the upcoming season.
Earlier in the day, the Zips were picked to finish third in the MAC East in the league's preseason poll.
The Akron Zips, under the guidance of fifth-year head coach Terry Bowden, open the 2016 season against VMI on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 6:30 p.m. at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field.
Season ticket plans—which include a ticket to all six home games as well as a parking pass—start at only $60 each. Renewals (for current season ticket holders) and new seats are now available for purchase by calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets) during business hours (Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Single-game tickets are on sale now.
All-Access 10 Packs, which contain 10 undated vouchers, are available for $100 and can be used for game tickets for any of the ticketed sports.
The Alumni All-Sport Plan, which has season tickets for all six ticketed sports [football, men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball] as well as a $20 donation to the Z-Fund, is available for $175.
