CLEVELAND, Ohio - Akron senior Sina King (Waterford, Ohio) has been selected as the Mid-American Conference East Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

King sparked Akron to an 81-70 triumph past Buffalo last Wednesday, Feb. 11, pouring in a game-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting (63.6 percent) from the field. She also connected on her lone three-point attempt and all six opportunities at the charity stripe, while pulling down seven rebounds, and recording a pair of assists and two steals.
She registered 14 of her game-high 21 points in a second half that saw the Zips break open a 36-all contest at the intermission en route to an 11-point victory. She contributed seven points in an 11-3 run that broke open a 48-48 contest with 13:23 to play, including capping the run with a key three pointer, to give Akron a 59-51 lead at the 10:15 mark.
King rounded out her efforts on the week recording a game-high 19-point, 14-rebound performance for her team leading 11th double-double of the season in an 82-56 victory past Toledo on Saturday, Feb. 14.
She shot better than 58 percent (.583) from the field (7-of-12) and connected on three of her five attempts from beyond the arc. King also hit both her free throw attempts and distributed a pair of assists in the triumph.
She played a key role in the Zips' first-half efforts that saw Akron shot nearly 57 percent (.567) from the floor as she was 5-of-9 from the field, including 2-for-4 from distance for 12 points in the initial 20 minutes of play. She also pulled down eight rebounds in the initial stanza. In limited second-half action, King went 2-of-3 from the field and made her lone three-point attempt to record seven points and six rebounds in the second half.
On the season, King owns team highs in scoring (20.0), rebounding (8.8), field-goal percentage (.493), three-point percentage (.373), free-throw shooting (.760) and blocked shots (15), while ranking second in three-pointers made (28).
The accolade is the fifth in King's Akron career and the seventh for a Zip this season. King previously took home East Player of the Week laurels on Nov. 25 and Jan. 26, while junior Anita Brown (Warren, Ohio) was recognized on Nov. 17, Dec. 1 and Jan. 20, and sophomore Hannah Plybon (Orrville, Ohio) on Jan. 12.
