CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron senior Anita Brown (Warren, Ohio) has been selected as the Mid-American Conference East Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
Brown directed Akron's efforts in the Zips' 91-77 setback at Florida Atlantic last Friday, Nov. 13, registering a team-high 27 points.
She connected on nearly 48 percent (.476) of her shots from the field, while going 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. She also pulled down seven rebounds, while dishing out three assists.
The accolade is the fourth in Brown's Akron career and the first for a Zip this season.
Akron (0-1) commences the home portion of its schedule on Friday, Nov. 20, as the Zips battle Winthrop (0-2) in the opening game of the Akron Classic. Game time is set for 10:30 a.m. at the James A. Rhodes Arena with the contest serving as the Zips' Education Day game.
