Stein Named MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week

AKRON, Ohio — Akron junior kicker Robert Stein (Cincinnati, Ohio) was named the Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the East Division on Monday.
In Saturday's 29-19 win over Miami, Stein made two field goals with a 28-yard score in the first quarter and a 46-yarder in the second quarter to improve his consecutive streak to nine field goals made. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 in PATs and kicked off six times for a career-best 364 yards (60.7 avg.).
In five games, Stein is a perfect 5-for-5 in field goals and 12-for-12 in PATs. He has kicked off 28 times for 1,656 yards (59.1 avg.) with five touchbacks and two out of bounds. Stein is the ZIps' leading scorer with 27 points.
Stein is the third Zip to earn MAC weekly recognition this fall. Junior QB Kyle Pohl (Farmersville, Ohio) earned offensive honors on Sept. 1, while junior LB Jatavis Brown (Belle Glade, Fla.) took home defensive honors on Sept. 29.
Akron (4-2, 2-0) travels to Ohio (3-4, 1-2) for a Mid-American Conference game at Peden Stadium on Oct. 18. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN3.
