AKRON, Ohio – The Zips football team held a 90-play scrimmage inside Stile Athletics Field House on Saturday morning.
In his post-practice visit with the media, head coach Terry Bowden discussed the performance of the defense and also noted that several returning starters are rehabbing minor injuries, which has affected the progress of the offense.
Saturday was the seventh of 15 NCAA-regulated spring practices. The Zips will hold their annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. ET at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field. Akron opens the 2013 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 29 at UCF. The team's home opener is on Saturday, Sept. 7 against James Madison.
Zips Notebook: Saturday marked the end of the squad's second week of spring workouts ... the group will practice on Monday, Thursday and Saturday next week ... the Spring Game on April 27 will be broadcast locally on Fox Sports Radio 1350 AM and via iHeartRadio ... the team will hold a Youth Clinic at 11 a.m. prior to the Spring Game ... the program will also host an Alumni Reunion during the weekend of the Spring Game.
