Rifle Finalized Home and Regular Season Competition on Saturday

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron rifle team finalized the final home and regular season competition on Saturday against Ohio State University and Role-Hulman (Ind.), which resulted in a second place finish for Akron. Ohio State finished in first, while Rose-Hulman placed second.
The Zips narrowly defeated the Buckeyes in the small-bore competition, as the Zips outscored the Buckeyes 2271-2269. Freshman Alan Agnew led the squad in achieving the team-high score in small-bore with a score of 577. Agnew's score was second overall in small-bore. Second highest score for Akron in small-bore was Tim Hopkins, who scored 570. Ohio State's Amanda Luoma registered first place with a 581 score.
Victoria Brown had another strong showing in the air rifle event. Brown achieved second place in the event with a score of 581. First place went to Greg Hagar of Ohio State with a score of 582. Agnew posted another high score in rifle with a 575.
The final team score for the competition were Ohio State in first with 4583, Akron in second with 4566, and Rose-Hulman in third with 4342.
The next competition for Akron rifle will be the NCAA Qualifier. The competition will take place at Ohio State University at 8 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 16.
