AKRON, Ohio – The Zips football team started its third two-a-day of preseason training camp with a two and one half hours practice on Tuesday morning inside Stile Athletics Field House and ended the day with a two hour session in the field house.
The group was in full pads for the morning workout and dressed in shells for the evening session.
First-year head coach Terry Bowden visited with GoZips.com after the morning practice to discuss the progress of the team and teased the release of a preseason depth chart later this week.
The program is scheduled to practice just once on Wednesday afternoon.
UA gets the season underway versus Central Florida on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. ET at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field. The opener will be carried by ESPN3.
Zips Notebook: UA Athletics will hold a Kickoff Luncheon on Aug. 24 at noon and "Hoppy Hour", a pre-game professional networking event prior to the season opener on Aug. 30 ... to reserve a spot at either event, fans need to contact the ticket office at 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) ... on Monday night, head coach Terry Bowden delivered free Papa John's pizza to two lucky Zips season ticketholders ... Kathy Wilkins and William Dietz got a surprise visit from the first-year coach as well as UA's mascot, Zippy, and Mr. Slice, the Papa John's mascot.
