Women's Basketball Alumnae Weekend Set for Feb. 10-11

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's basketball team and coach Jodi Kest have announced that the program's annual alumnae weekend will be held on February 10-11, 2012.
The weekend will include the annual alumnae game, a reception prior to UA's game against Western Michigan on Saturday, February 11, and an invitation to The University of Akron Varsity 'A' Hall of Fame induction of former Zips basketball star Cheryl Bowles.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, February 10 with the annual alumnae game at James A. Rhodes Arena. Doors open for the event at 5 p.m. with the game scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
At the conclusion of the game, all alumnae are invited to attend the Varsity 'A' Hall of Fame induction of Bowles at the Martin Center. The ceremony begins at 8 p.m. and costs $21 per person. Those not interested in attending the induction ceremony are invited to attend a complimentary postgame meal in Tommy Evans Lounge.
Alumnae weekend continues on Saturday, February 11 with a pre-game reception in the women's basketball team lounge at 4 p.m. prior to Akron's Mid-American Conference game against Western Michigan at 5 p.m. All alumnae in attendance will be honored at halftime of the game.
Alumnae weekend concludes with a postgame function in Tommy Evans Lounge prior to the men's basketball game against Northern Illinois.
Interested alumnae should RSVP by February 1 to Director of Basketball Operations Candace Smith (clw23@uakron.edu; 330-972-8274) or Graduate Assistant for Development Erin Horning (emh51@zips.uakron.edu; 330-972-2039. A hotel block at the Sheraton Suites has also been set up for those needing accommodations. The price of the room is $99 per night, with the rate being available until February 1.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10
5 p.m. – Doors will open and floor available for warm-ups for alumnae game
6 p.m. – Women's Basketball Alumnae Game at James A. Rhodes Arena
8 p.m. – Varsity A Hall of Fame Induction ($21 per person), OR
Complimentary Postgame Meal in Tommy Evans Lounge Immediately Following Game
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11
4 p.m. – Pregame function in women's basketball team lounge
5 p.m. – Women's basketball game vs. Western Michigan – alumnae will be recognized at halftime
7 p.m. – Postgame function in Tommy Evans Lounge (prior to men's basketball game)
