Football Preseason Training Camp Report #1
AKRON, Ohio – Continuing the installation of its base offensive, defensive and special teams packages was much of the focus on Friday morning in day two of The University of Akron football program's preseason training camp.
Staying with its split squad workout format, the team practiced without pads at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field. Separated into two groups, the Blue Team was on the field from 8-9:30 a.m. followed by the Gold Team from 9:50-11:20 a.m. The entire squad participated in a special teams session from 9:30-9:50 a.m.
This unique schedule is designed to give players some early specialized attention and maximize practice repetitions, while also identifying those who might impact the two-deep.
The Zips will return to the practice field on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. in half pads for their final split schedule day. On Sunday night, the team will practice as one unit in half pads.
