Blue Team Claims Fall World Series with 7-1 Game Three Win

AKRON, Ohio - The Blue team claimed The University of Akron Baseball Fall World Series with a 7-1 win on Monday afternoon at Lee R. Jackson Baseball Field.
Ivory Alexander, Darius Washington, and Chris Miller all had two hits for the Blue squad. Joey Havrilak drove in the lone run for the Gold team.
The Blue club got on the board via Alexander's bottom of the first RBI single. Devan Ahart had walked and stole second to get into scoring position. Havrilak pulled the Gold even in the top of the third when he plated Matt Rembielak with an RBI single of his own.
The Blue team regained the lead in the last of the sixth on Miller's RBI single that scored Caleb Warnimont. Warnimont legged out a double down the left field line to begin the inning.
The Blue team added three more runs in the seventh. Warnimont drove in one with an RBI single and Miller plated another with his second RBI single in as many innings.
The lead was stretched to 7-1 with a pair in the eighth. Gerrad Rohan's sac fly allowed Dan Burant to score and Jason McPeek scored when the throw from rightfielder Jared Turocy caromed into the third base dugout.
Starters Myles McVeigh (Gold) and Pat Dyer (Blue) each pitched four innings and allowed just one run. Blue relievers Dan Fawcett, Dan Becks, Andrew Brown, and Kevin Gamble shut down the Gold team for five combined innings.
