as a Freshman (2009): Brown finished the 2008-09 season with a 2-5 record and 6.64 ERA after becoming the Saturday starter midway through the season ... made eight starts on the hill for the Zips and threw one complete game in 15 appearances … in 61 innings pitched, retired 52 batters on strikes, third-most on the pitching staff … first career victory came against MAC foe Northern Illinois (Apr. 10), Brown worked four frames and fanned four batters as the Zips defeated the Huskies, 10-4 … second win of the season came against Buffalo as Brown tossed all nine innings, hurling a career-tying six strikeouts to defeat the Bulls, 7-1.
