Akron Postgame Notes
Team Notes:
Today's game represents the final home opener at the
Rubber Bowl. The Zips are schedule move into InfoCision Stadium
next fall.
Despite the defeat, Akron is 70-36-3 all-time in home
openers, including 3-2 under head coach J.D.
Brookhart.
The loss was just J.D. Brookhart's sixth loss in 17 MAC games
at the Rubber Bowl since his arrival in 2004.
The Zips recorded their third interception in the end zone
in as many games against BSU.
Player Notes:
Before leaving the game in the third quarter with a hip
injury, running back Alex Allen scored a touchdown on the ground
for the third time in the past two games.
Miguel Graham has recorded an interception in the
end zone in each of UA's last two games. The defensive back picked
off a Nate Davis pass in the end zone to end BSU's second drive of
the game in the first quarter.
Graham had a big day overall with a game-high 12 tackles,
including six solos.
Quarterback Chris Jacquemain finished the game with 269
passing yards to up his career total to 2,379 and move into 11th
place on UA's all-time list.
Brian Williams and Kevin Grant also posted double-figure
tackles with 11 and 10, respectively.
Linebacker Mike Thomas recorded the first sack of his career
in the third quarter.
Running back Andrew Johnson, a transfer from the
University of Miami (Fla.), scored his first touchdown in an Akron
uniform and his first collegiate score since 2004 as a member of
the Hurricanes.
After missing his first career attempt, place kicker Igor
Iveljic has been true on his last 35 PAT kicks. He was 3-for-3
in that category Saturday and also added a 34-yard field goal.
Wide receiver Andre Jones has hauled in three touchdowns
in his last two games after finding the end zone twice at Syracuse
last weekend.
