Rachel Green begins her first season on Ron Arenz's coaching staff in 2014.
"I am looking forward to working with Rachel on the court and utilizing her experience as both a student-athlete and a coach," Arenz said. "She has a great work ethic and personality that will help our players grow and develop. Since the first time I coached her at the club level, I could see she possessed the qualities of a successful coach."
Green joins the Zips coaching staff after spending the last year as head coach at Zeeland East High School in Zeeland, Mich. She guided Zeeland to a 25-12-5 record and the school's first conference tournament championship in 2013. She mentored three all-conference selections.
In addition to her time at Zeeland, Green has spent the last two years as the Youth Academy Director and lead coach of the Dead Frog Far Out club team. She also played for the Dead Frog club team under Arenz as a teenager.
Green has also spent time as a coach at the Michigan State Volleyball All-Skills Camp, Sports Performance Volleyball Club (Aurora, Ill.) and an assistant coach at Oconto Falls High School (Oconto Falls, Wis.).
Green concluded her collegiate playing career at Northern Michigan University, playing her final two years with the Wildcats (2008-10). She appeared in 39 matches, posting 497 assists and 235 digs. She earned All-Conference honors at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in 2007.
In 2006, Green helped Iowa Western Community College to a 60-4 mark and the NJCAA DI National Championship. She set the program's single-season mark with 2,045 assists.
Green is a 2012 graduate of Northern Michigan University with a bachelor of science in management of health and fitness.
