Peyton Booth enters her first season as assistant coach on the Akron women's basketball staff during the 2021-22 campaign after being named as an assistant coach on July 14, 2021.
“I am so excited to be rejoining the staff here at Akron,” said Booth. “I’m very thankful for this opportunity to get to work and learn every day from Coach Jackson. I greatly respect the way she runs her program and I’m grateful to be able to add to the culture she has established. I’m thrilled and humbled to be joining the Akron Women’s Basketball family and I can’t wait to get to work.”
"I could not be happier to have Peyton back on staff with us," commented Jackson. "She is one of the brightest young assistants in the country. Her familiarity with our program will make for a seamless transition. Peyton has a tremendous work ethic, and her values really align with our program. Her experience the last two years, as well as her Ohio connections will allow her to hit the ground running."
No stranger to the Akron women's basketball program, Booth spent the 2018-19 campaign serving as a graduate assistant for the Zips. She was responsible for in-game statistics, assisting with practice set-up and drills, the recruitment and management of practice team members and managers, along with assisting with recruiting mailings and partnering with marketing department to increase involvement at athletic events with the student body.
A native of Wadsworth, Ohio, Booth was a four-year member of the women’s basketball squad at New Hampshire, where she appeared in 112 games, including 31 starts. The Wildcats posted a 74-48 record during her four seasons in Durham, N.H., including a 45-18 ledger over her final two campaigns.
She returns to her native Ohio after serving the last two seasons as an assistant coach for her alma mater. Her responsibilities included coaching the Wildcats’ guards in addition to emphasis on scheduling, alumni relations, fundraising projects and leading New Hampshire’s team community service initiatives. This past season, she mentored senior guard Amanda Torres, who garnered Second-Team America East All-Conference accolades, while freshman guard Adara Groman took home America East All-Rookie team honors.
Booth earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in coaching from New Hampshire in 2018 and a master's degree in sport administration from Akron in 2021.
