Adam Najem, Men's Soccer
AKRON, Ohio - Adam Najem (Clifton, N.J.), a junior on the men's soccer team, was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Month for December, presented by The University of Akron, Ohio's Polytechnic University.
Najem sparked the Zips to their fourth-ever appearance in the College Cup delivering the game-winning goal off a free kick in the second overtime versus top-rated and eighth-seeded Creighton in the Elite Eight on Dec. 5 at FirstEnergy Stadium – Cub Cadet Field.
Najem then led Akron to record its ninth shutout of the season shutting down eventual national champion Stanford in the College Cup semifinals on Dec. 11.
Najem led the Zips in goals (1), points (2) and game-winners (1) on the month, while rating second in shots (5) and shots on goal (1).
Najem collected second-team All-America and first-team academic All-America accolades during the month.
