AKRON, Ohio - Adam Najem (Clifton, N.J.), a junior on the men's soccer team, was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Month for September, presented by The University of Akron, Ohio's Polytechnic University.
Najem turned a stellar month of September leading the Zips to a 5-1-1 mark, including road victories over No. 4 Georgetown (1-0), No. 6 Maryland (3-2) and No. 25 UC Santa Barbara (2-0) and a triumph past No. 14 Saint Louis (3-2), registering a team-high five goals on a team-best 12 shots on goal.
He netted game-winning goals in 1-0 victories over Georgetown and Penn State. He also added two assists on 22 overall shots. On the season, Najem leads the Zips in goals (6), assists (4), points (16) and game-winning goals (3), while ranking second in shots (29) and third in shots on goal (12).
