As a Junior (2017): Gambone has been a staple at the hot corner for the Zips the past three seasons and started all 57 games at third base in 2017 … in 155 at bats, Gambone recorded a .290 batting average on the strength of 35 base hits, six doubles, one homerun and drove in four runs … the Akron third baseman posted a team-high 13 sacrifice hits, stole nine bases in 14 attempts, and scored 13 runs … defensively, Gambone tallied the fifth-best fielding percentage on the team, .930, and posted a team-high 128 assists … Gambone recorded the second longest hitting streak of the season with six games, totaling seven hits … she recorded five multi-hit performances from the plate, including back-to-back games with two hits against North Carolina A&T and Jacksonville, along with a pair of six assist games in the field.
As a Sophomore (2016): Started all 56 games at third base for the Zips and hit .293 … in 150 plate appearances, posted 44 hits and scored 19 runs … she drove in 12 runs and had a slugging percentage of .340… was hit by a team-high 17 pitches and second in on base percentage (.387)… recorded a five game hitting streak (Feb. 13-19), totaling seven hits, and one RBI.
As a Freshman (2015): Appeared in 34 games on the season, hitting .265 … recorded a season-high two hits on six separate occasions, including the season finale against Kent State in the MAC Championship … stole four bases in seven attempts.
High School: A 2014 first-team All-Ohio honoree ... finished prep career ranked seventh in the state with 210 career hits ... had a .527 batting average in career ... as a senior, had 43 hits, 11 doubles, two triples, and four home runs for 21 RBI ... second-team All-Ohio second baseman as a sophomore and a junior at Canton Central Catholic HS ... set the Ohio state record for consecutive games with a hit (47) ... as a sophomore in 2012, hit .578 and ranked No. 8 in the state with 67 hits on the season ... led CCC to a pair of sectional championships as well as the school's first-ever district title ... also a member of the Ohio Lasers Gold squad that captured the national championship in 2011.
Personal: Parents are Sally and Steve Gambone ... has an older sister, Lauren, who plays softball at Buffalo ... loves to play golf ... marketing management major.
