AKRON, Ohio - The Akron women's returns the pitch after winning the home-opening match against Oakland 3-0. For game two of the 2026 campaign, the Zips travel to Southern Indiana on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. to start a three-game road swing.

SCOUTING REPORT
Southern Indiana opened the season with a 0-0 stalemate with Wright State and a 2-0 setback to Middle Tennessee State for a 0-1-1 overall record. The Eagles have attempted 23 shots with eight on goal in a two-game span, while allowing 24 shots, nine on goal and two goals. USI Goalkeeper Merrick Schwalbach has posted seven saves.

OPEN THE SEASON WITH A WIN
The Akron Zips women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 3-Nil win over Oakland as Rachel Wenzel scored a pair of goals and Sara Bower pitched a shutout at the Zips home opener at FirstEnergy Stadium. Wenzel netted the Zips first goal of the season in the 33rd minute on an assist by Olivia Heskett and Addison Hall. Emma Ogdahl followed with her first collegiate goal on an assist from Callee DalBon in the 42nd minute. Wenzel found the back of the net for a second time, scoring off a pass from Olivia Pilato in the 78th minute to give Akron the 3-0 advantage. Bower recorded four saves in the shutout effort.

ALL-MAC IN 2025
University of Akron women's soccer standouts junior Jordanne Oberhaus and freshman Addison Hall garnered All-Mid-American Conference accolades when the league unveiled its 2025 award winners in a vote of the league coaches released on Friday (Oct. 31).

Oberhaus headlined the Zips' award winners as she was selected as a Second-Team honoree, while Hall was tabbed to the All-Freshman team.

IT'S OFFICIAL
Maggie Kuhn was officially named the head coach of the Akron women's soccer team on December 11, 2025. Kuhn served as the Interim Head Coach for the Zips during the 2025 campaign and will enter her fifth season overall with the Akron program in 2026.
