AKRON, Ohio - Western Michigan's one-run eighth proved to be the difference in the ballgame, as the Akron Zips lost a tough one to the Broncos by the score of 4-3 on Friday.

Brody Chrisman led the offense with two hits and an RBI. Gio Melchione and Tucker Biehl both recorded doubles against the Broncos.

Floyd McKenna (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Akron (6-8, 0-1) and took the loss. Brady Bowen was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing 6.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Akron got an RBI single from Chrisman, scoring Biehl from second base.

The Zips kept the Broncos off the board before tying it up in the sixth. Akron pushed across a run on Melchione's two-out RBI double, which evened the score at 2-2.

Western Michigan busted up the tie and grabbed a 3-2 lead moving into the seventh, when Akron tied the game at three. Western Michigan then scored one time over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 4-3 win.
