AKRON, Ohio -- Andrea Day blasted a homerun to break a 6-6 stalemate in the bottom of the seventh Inning, giving Akron its fourth Mid-American Conference win as the Akron Zips (12-16, 4-0 MAC) claimed the home opener 4-3 over the Miami RedHawks (20-6, 2-2 MAC) on Friday at Lee R. Jackson Field.

Glass scored twice in a 1-for-2 effort and Brown unleashed a double in her only trip to the plate.
Madie Jamrog (3-4) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (12-16, 4-0). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out three.
