Akron Earns 10-6 Rivalry Victory at Kent State

KENT, Ohio – The University of Akron lacrosse team registered its first ever triumph at rival Kent State earning a 10-6 victory over the Golden Flashes on Wednesday (March 18).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Senior Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) and junior Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) each registered a trio of goals to spark Akron's offensive efforts.
• Seniors Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.) and Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) along with junior Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.) tallied two, one and one goal, respectively, for the Zips.
• Fletcher and Baumer each garnered a game-high two assists, while Hinchcliffe also netted an assist for Akron.
• Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Califano Bellmore, N.Y.) collected eight saves in the match.
• Baumer, Hinchcliffe, junior Kacey Hopkins (Riva, Md) and senior Sarah Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) each recorded a team-best two ground balls, while Baumer, Hinchcliffe and sophomore Julia Mattingly (Leonardtown, Md.) pulled in team-best four draw controls each.
• Freshman Faith Sellet (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied a game-high two caused turnovers.
• Recording a game-high six shots, including four on goal was Hinchcliffe.
