Zips See Pair of Games Moved to National Television
January 22 | Men's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio - The Akron men's basketball saw a pair of upcoming games selected for national television as the MAC-SBC Challenge game at Troy moved to ESPN2 on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. and the home game against UMass moved to Friday, Feb. 13 at 9 p.m. at James A. Rhodes Arena on CBS Sports Network.
The adjustment for the away contest at Troy marks the second time Akron has been featured on a linear ESPN network as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge, as the Blue and Gold battled James Madison on ESPN2 in 2024. The Zips are 1-0 in the MAC-SBC Challenge this season after defeating James Madison at James A. Rhodes Arena, 85-71, to begin the 2025-26 season. Akron is 3-2 all-time in the MAC-SBC Challenge, with all three wins coming at the JAR.
The Zips' Friday league play contest on Feb. 13 against the UMass Minutemen was also selected for the national audience as part of the Mid-American Conference Wildcard Selection agreement. Akron will host the Minutemen for the first time as a conference foe on CBS Sports Network on Friday, Feb. 13 with a start time of 9 p.m. ET.Â
Note the UMass at Akron contest was originally scheduled for Feb. 14 and has moved to Feb. 13.
