AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron women's soccer team fell 1-0 at home to Miami on Sunday (Sept. 28) at FirstEnergy Stadium.
How it Happened
Akron pressured the attack in the opening half and had the Redhawks on their heels in the opening stanza but the Zips were unable to capitalize despite a 4-2 edge in shots in the first half.
The scoreless battled continued into the second half as each side only mustered one shot on goal in the final period. That one shot in the 82nd minute (81:17) courtesy of Maris Jennings proved to be the game-winning tally.
Redshirt freshman GK Ariana Vakos (Avon, Ohio) was again stellar in net as she led Akron with two saves. The Zips recorded seven shots in the loss, three of them on goal. Akron faced 11 Miami shots, three of them on goal.

- Sophomore Allie McMillen (Shreve, Ohio) paced the Akron attack with a team-high two shots.
