AKRON, Ohio - The 12th-ranked University of Akron rifle team will vie for a team championship this weekend as the Zips battle for the Great America Rifle Conference Championships hosted by West Virginia this Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2 in Morgantown, W.Va.
The smallbore rifle competition will take place on Saturday, March 1, starting at 9:00 a.m., before the championships conclude with the air rifle race on Sunday, March 2, at the same time.
The championship field includes No. 2 West Virginia, No. 3 Kentucky, No. 9 Navy, No. 12 Akron, No. 10 Memphis, and No. 14 Army.

Redshirt senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) leads the Zips this season posting team-best averages of 1179.13 and 594.47, respectively, in the combined and air rifles, while redshirt senior Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) owns a team-best average of 585.73 in the smallbore rifle.
Scheduled to compete for the Zips are seniors Rachel Engels (Meridian, Idaho) and Joey Hahn (Middle Grove, N.Y.), sophomore Diane Heschel (Oak Harbor, Ohio), freshman Kiley Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.), senior Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.), sophomore Elizabeth Lilly (Marble Falls, Texas), juniors Logan McClimans (Jamestown, Pa.) and Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.), Perkowski, redshirt senior Sally Reeke (Clifton, Va.), Schnupp, junior Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) and senior Cory Stroupe (Brasstown, N.C.).
