Zips Claim Early Lead at the Zippy Invitational

AKRON, Ohio — Akron opened the 2025 Zippy Invitational with a first and second-place finish to take an early lead through day one.
The Zips started the night by winning the women's 200-yard medley relay in 1:38.61 behind Abbey Cronin, Claire Cox, Callie Parkes and Ada Szwabinska. Akron's "I" relay added fourth-place points with a 1:41.93 showing.
Akron then placed second in the 800 freestyle relay, as Szwabinska, Helena Lalkovic, Brienne Trumpower and Hannah Trainer combined for a 7:18.58 finish—just .43 seconds behind Buffalo. The Zips' "I" relay also scored with a fifth-place 7:26.72.
Through two events, Akron leads the women's field with 218 points, ahead of Cornell (206) and Buffalo (204).
On the men's side, Keiser's "A" squad of Pedersen, De Geus, Aleksenko and Fuhrmann set a meet and pool record with a time of 1:25.20.

Day two of the Zippy Invitational begins at 9 am on Friday, December 5.
