Akron Garners No. 14 National Seed as Zips Will Host Michigan or Notre Dame in NCAA Second Round Match

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's soccer team learned its draw for the 2025 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship on Monday (Nov. 17), and the Zips (11-4-3) earned a No. 14 national seed and will host the advancing team between Michigan (12-3-4) and Notre Dame (8-6-4) in second-round action on Sunday (Nov. 23), at 1 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The advancing team moves on to a third-round showdown versus the advancing squad between No. 3 Princeton (15-1-2)/Duke (8-3-6)/Fairleigh Dickinson (13-4-3).
The Zips garnered a national seed for the fifth time since 2015 and for the second time in Akron's last three postseason appearances.
Also seeded in the Zips' region are No. 3 Princeton, No. 6 Indiana (12-5-1) and No. 11 Bryant (16-2-2). The remaining top four overall national seeds went to No. 1 Vermont (14-0-5), No. 2 No. Virginia (12-2-4), No. 3 Princeton and No. 4 Maryland (12-1-3).
The 2025 College Cup will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., on Dec. 12 and 15.
The Zips will be making their 37th all-time appearance in the NCAA postseason and 15th berth in the last 20 campaigns.
Tickets are available to purchase through gozips.com/tickets or by calling the Akron Athletic Ticket Office at 888-992-5766. Season ticket holders will have access to purchasing their same seats for the NCAA Tournament games and will be notified via email with instructions to do so.
