Career Highs From Wolf and Ozoh Not Enough in Loss to Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich - The Akron volleyball team took the first set, but couldn't hold on and lost 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 22-25, 25-27) to the Western Michigan Broncos on the road Thursday night.
The Zips were led by a double-double from Delaney Gash, who registered 12 kills and 15 digs. Lyndi Wolf added a career-high 16 kills and hit .394. Chidera Ozoh recorded a career-high 13 kills and hit .545 on the night against the Broncos On the defensive end, Vanessa Del Real supplied 19 digs while Wolf and Ozoh led the team with five blocks. Martina Villani provided 52 assists.
The loss dropped Akron's record to 8-9 overall and 1-5 in MAC action.

SET 2 | Akron then lost set two 25-17, evening things at a set each. The Zips lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | A third-set loss put Akron down 2-1. The Zips dropped a back-and-forth battle, losing 25-22 in a set that featured three lead changes and was tied seven times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points along the way.
SET 4 | Akron lost the fourth set and the match, falling 27-25. The Zips fell in a tight set, losing in a stanza that was tied eight times and had five lead changes.
