Zips Set to Play at IU Indy/Butler’s Hampton Inn/Indy Invitational

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron volleyball team will travel to Indianapolis for three matches at IU Indy/Butler's Hampton Inn/Indy Invitational from September 3-5.
The Zips will play Marshall on September 3 at 4 p.m., at IU Indy, followed by Butler the next day at 6 p.m., at Hinkle Fieldhouse. They will wrap up the weekend by playing IU Indy on Saturday, September 5 at 3 p.m.
Last week, Akron opened their season with a 1-2 record at East Tennessee State's Buccaneer Classic. They defeated ETSU, 3-2, in their first match of the year, followed by a 3-1 loss to Liberty and 3-0 defeat to Auburn.
Chidera Ozoh led the Zips attack with a combined 32 kills with a .482 hitting percentage — ranked second in the MAC — while Vanessa Del Real totaled 45 digs. Additionally, San Jose State transfer Clara Christensen registered 68 assists.
Last season, Akron finished with a 16-13 (9-9 MAC) record, falling one game shy of qualifying for the MAC Tournament.
Marshall and Butler each enter the weekend with a 2-1 record, while IU Indy comes in at 1-2.
