YPSILANTI, Mich. – A first-half goal proved too much for the University of Akron women's soccer team to overcome as Eastern Michigan registered a 3-0 triumph over the Zips on Sunday (Oct. 19).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips controlled the early pace of play in the match netting three of their first four shots in the stanza on frame.
The Eagles responded as Olivia Sipsock scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 25th minute (24:18).
Akron trailed at the half by a 1-0 margin.
Eastern Michigan extended its advantage to 2-0 at the 51:31 mark when Sipsock collected her second goal of the afternoon.
The Eagles capped the scoring with a tally from Kaylee Synk in the 84th minute (83:09).
GAME NOTES
• The Zips garnered 12 shots in the match and posted an 8-6 edge in shots on goal.
• Junior Jordanne Oberhaus (Wadsworth, Ohio) recorded a game-high shots in the match, while freshman Addison Hall (Manchester, Conn.) tallied four shots.
