Akron Men's Soccer Commences Preparations for 2024 Season

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's soccer squad under the leadership of 12th-year head coach Jared Embick opened its preseason preparations for the 2024 campaign on Tuesday, Aug. 6, as the squad went through the Zips' first training session of the season.
The squad welcomed 15 newcomers to the fold as the Zips went through a 90-minute training session on the Shrank Practice Field.
Akron is set to return six starters in 2024, including 2023 All-BIG EAST Conference performers, seniors Jonas Buechte (Rantigen, Germany) and Malik Henry (Hamilton, Ontario).
The Zips will also be bolstered by the return of key 2023 contributors in redshirt junior Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.), redshirt senior Dyson Clapier Layton, Utah), juniors Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio), Ashton Kamdem (West Chester, Ohio) and Daragh Reilly (Meath, Ireland) and senior Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal (Carbondale, Ill.).
Akron will kick off its 70th season of intercollegiate men's soccer traveling to 2024 NCAA College Cup finalist Notre Dame on Aug. 22 for a non-conference showdown with the Fighting Irish. The home opener for the Zips will see Akron battle Ohio State on Aug. 25.
Season and single-game tickets are now on sale. Fans with questions about new or existing season tickets for the 2024 campaign may call or email (tickets@uakron.edu) the C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visit the office at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue) Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
