SCOUTING REPORT
The Chippewas are currently 15-29 overall this season with a 6-15 conference record and a 5-5 record at home. Central Michigan is coming off a series with Northern Illinois where they went 1-2 with the Huskies. Falling 2-1 in game 1 and 9-6 in game 2, CMU shutout NIU 2-0 to conclude the series.
Jacob Donahue leads CMU with a .370 batting average in 42 starts. Donahue has 30 runs, a team-high 60 hits, seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, 18 RBI and a team leading 13. Ely Stuart joins Donahue with a .301 batting while posting 46 hits, 26 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 34 RBI to lead CMU.
Adam Mrakitsch leads the pitching staff with a 4.44 ERA in nine starts. He has thrown 46.2 innings with 66 strikeouts while batters are hitting .253 against him. Keegan Batka has thrown a team-high 59.0 innings in 13 appearances and 10 starts. Evan Waters owns a 4-3 record in 16 appearances and two starts this season for the Chippewas.

Akron recently traveled to Ohio State where the Zips fell 18-13 to the Buckeyes. Five Zips produced multiple hits with Charlie Schebler, Sam Seeker and Michael Sprockett each producing three hits. Schebler had a home run and double with three RBI. Seeker also had three RBI against Ohio State while Sprockett had two RBI.
Max Bowman leads the Zips with a .331 batting average along with 54 hits, four triples, six home runs and 40 RBI. Bowman is tied with Jack Poist in doubles with 11 this season. Sam Seeker is hitting .297 with 41 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs, 24 RBI and has eight stolen bases. Evan Bottone is hitting ,293 with 44 hits, six doubles, one triple, two home runs, 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Poist has a team-high 14 stolen bases while hitting .268 while recording 38 hits, 22 doubles, two home runs and 21 RBI.
Jared Schaeffer leads the pitching staff with a 4.18 ERA. Over his last start he's gone at least seven innings and holds a team-high 60.1 innings of work in 10 starts. Schaeffer also leads the Zips with 42 strikeouts. Sean Perkins has a 4.35 ERA in 17 appearances and has recorded one save. In 31.0 innings he had struck out 20. Jack Kelley had 35 strikeouts in 16 appearances, five starts and 36.0 innings of work. Yassir Kahook, Spencer Atkins and Schaeffer share the lead for wins with two each.
CURRENT STREAKS
Evan Bottone continues to increase his on-base streak, with the streak reaching 36 consecutive games. Bowman has reached base in 17 consecutive games while Sam Seeker joins the group with a 12-game streak.
Seeker is currently on a four-game hitting streak while Bowman and Bottone have both recorded hits in three-straight games.
Bowman and Bottone are tied for the most multi-hit games this season with 14 while Seeker is close behind with 13.

GOING THE DISTANCE
Jared Schaeffer was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 22.
Throwing his first career complete game, Schaeffer helped lead the Akron Zips to a 7-2 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday, April 20.
The Sophomore righty went the full nine innings where he allowed just two unearned runs, none earned, walking none, allowing nine hits while tying his season-high for strikeouts with six k's against the Eagles.
PERKS OF THE JOB
Sean Perkins was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week on March 4 after picking up a win over No. 10/12 Duke.
Coming in down 2-1 against Duke in the second game of the series, Perkins pitched five innings of near-spotless baseball as the Zips defeated the No. 10/12 Blue Devils 4-3 on March 2. Throwing the final five innings, Perkins held his own with just two hits allowed along with one run and two strikeouts to earn the win. He sent Duke three-up-three down in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings and ended the ninth with a strikeout. Perkins also held Duke's hitters to a combined .118 batting average over the five innings of work.
ONE TO REMEMBER
Head coach Bryan Faulds collected his first win leading the Akron Zips in the second game of a doubleheader against Illinois on February 14. Down 4-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh, Akron battled to force extra-innings when Max Bowman sent a walk-off home run in the 11th inning to give the Zips a 5-4 victory.
ON DECK
Akron returns home for its final home series when it hosts Kent State from May 10-12 with Senior Day set for Sunday, May 12.
