AKRON, Ohio – Akron concludes its non-conference slate with a trip to Ann Arbor to battle the University of Michigan with action set to begin at 4 p.m.

SCOUTING REPORT
The Wolverines come into Tuesday's contest with a 28-24 overall record and an 18-8 record at Ray Fisher Stadium. Michigan is also 7-4 against the MAC this season. Michigan recently won the final two games against Purdue to finish the series 2-1. After getting shutout 4-0 in game one, Michigan won 7-6 and 8-6 to conclude the conference series.
Mack Timbrook leads Michigan in batting average with a .326 mark. He had 57 hits, 16 doubles, three home runs, 29 RBI and nine stolen bases. Cole Caruso leads the squad in RBI with 41 while adding 49 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, four home runs and three stolen bases. Stephen Hrustich and Mitch Voit both have recorded 10 or more home runs this season. Hrustich is up to 14 home runs and 40 RBI while adding 14 doubles to his 57 total hits. Voit, who leads the team with 60 hits, has 10 home runs and 20 doubles along with 39 RBI.
Jacob Denner leads the pitching staff with seven wins in 24 appearances and four starters. Throwing one complete game, he also has a team-high four saves. He has a 4.13 ERA with 72 innings of work and 55 strikeouts. Kurt Barr leads the squad in innings pitched with 73.2 and had one complete game in 18 appearances and eight starts.

Spencer Atkins, who is tied with Schaeffer in wins, has thrown 54.1 innings with 43 strikeouts. Sean Perkins leads the Zips with three saves in 20 appearances. He's thrown 37.0 innings and struck out 27.

After reaching base in 41 consecutive games, Evan Bottone was held off the base path on Sunday. Sam Seeker holds the longest active on-base streak with 18 games reaching safely. Nicky Sackett is second with a 13-game streak.
Sackett also holds the longest active hit streak with a five-game streak. Michael Sprockett has recorded a hit in four straight games and is joined by Austin Lafferty. Sam Seeker and Fisher Pyatt both are on three-game hitting streaks.

GOING THE DISTANCE
Jared Schaeffer was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 22.
Throwing his first career complete game, Schaeffer helped lead the Akron Zips to a 7-2 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday, April 20.
The Sophomore righty went the full nine innings where he allowed just two unearned runs, none earned, walking none, allowing nine hits while tying his season-high for strikeouts with six k's against the Eagles.
PERKS OF THE JOB
Sean Perkins was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week on March 4 after picking up a win over No. 10/12 Duke.
Coming in down 2-1 against Duke in the second game of the series, Perkins pitched five innings of near-spotless baseball as the Zips defeated the No. 10/12 Blue Devils 4-3 on March 2. Throwing the final five innings, Perkins held his own with just two hits allowed along with one run and two strikeouts to earn the win. He sent Duke three-up-three down in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings and ended the ninth with a strikeout. Perkins also held Duke's hitters to a combined .118 batting average over the five innings of work.
ONE TO REMEMBER
Head coach Bryan Faulds collected his first win leading the Akron Zips in the second game of a doubleheader against Illinois on February 14. Down 4-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh, Akron battled to force extra-innings when Max Bowman sent a walk-off home run in the 11th inning to give the Zips a 5-4 victory.
ON DECK
The Zips will conclude the 2024 season with a trip to Athens, Ohio., when it battles the Bobcats starting on May 16.
