Five Zips Record Multiple Hits In 18-13 Loss to Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Akron Zips offense saw five batters produce multi-hit games in a 18-13 loss to Ohio State on Wednesday.
At the plate, the Zips were led by Charlie Schebler, who went 3-for-5 on the day with a double, a home run and three RBI. Sam Seeker went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Michael Sprockett recorded a three-hit game while adding a walk and two RBI. Evan Bottone and Max Bowman each had two hits with the pair each recording a double.
Elijah Griffith (1-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Akron (11-33). Anthony Fett struck out three batters over 2.1 innings of relief while allowing one run on two hits. Jacob Beall also saw multiple innings out of the pen, with 2.1 innings of work where he allowed just one run on two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Seeker's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Akron.
The Buckeyes then rallied to score seven runs and take a 7-2 lead before the Zips got back on the board in the second. The Akron offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run single off the bat of Seeker, which brought the score to 7-6 in favor of the Buckeyes.
Ohio State expanded their lead to 10-6 before the Akron offense got going, reducing that lead to 10-7 in the fifth on a home run by Schebler.
The Buckeyes expanded their lead to 11-7 before the Akron offense got back in gear, cutting into that lead in the seventh. The three-run frame for the Zips was punctuated by a two-run single off the bat of Fisher Pyatt. bringing the score to 11-10 in favor of Ohio State.
Ohio State expanded their lead to 15-10 before the Zips offense got rolling, reducing that lead to 15-13 in the eighth on RBI singles from Sprockett, Seeker and Schebler. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Ohio State added three runs to their tally on the way to an 18-13 final.
