AKRON, Ohio – The Zips will look to keep the good times rolling after winning two-of-three against Western Michigan over the weekend with a trip to Ohio State on Wednesday.

SCOUTING REPORT
Ohio State comes into Wednesday's contest with a 20-20 overall record, a 7-8 conference record and an 8-7 record at home. The Buckeyes are coming off a series against Michigan State where they went 1-2, winning the final game 10-6. OSU and MSU combined for 60 total runs over the three games with the Spartans winning the first game 11-4 and game two 17-12.
Ohio State is led at the plate by Henry Kaczmar who is hitting .338 on the season. In 40 games played and started he also leads the Buckeyes in hits (53) and is tied for second in home runs (5) and the lead in slugging percentage (.497). Kaczmar has scored 40 times, had six doubles, two triples, 29 RBI and has stolen four bases. Matthew Graveline leads the way in doubles with 13 and is hitting .290 on the season. He has also has 11 stolen bases. Joseph Mershon hits .294 and leads OSU in stolen bases with 13.
Landon Beidelschied has an ERA of 4.43 in 11 starts for OSU. He leads the squad in innings pitched with 61.0 innings and 66 strikeouts with hitters hitting a combined .238 against him. Justin Eckhardt has six saves and an ERA of 2.93 in 14 appearances and 15.1 innings this season.

Sam Seeker is hitting .286 in 39 starts with 38 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs, 21 RBI and eight stolen bases. Jared Schaeffer leads the Zips with a 4.18 ERA in 10 starts. He's thrown the only complete game for Akron this season with 60.1 innings of work and a team-leading 42 strikeouts. Sean Perkins holds a 4.45 ERA out of the pen in 16 appearances. He is 1-1 and has collected one save. Throwing 30.1 innings he has struck out 19. Jack Kelley has struck out 37 in 16 appearances and five starts this season which includes 10 strikeouts over his last two starts.
CURRENT STREAKS
Evan Bottone is now riding a 35-game on-base streak after the past week. Bottone's on-base streak is the longest recorded by a Zip this season. Max Bowman, who is on a 16-game on-base streak had the previous high of 25 earlier this season. Sam Seeker is also on a 10+ on-base streak after reaching safely in 11 straight.
Sam Seeker leads the way with a three-game hit streak. Bowman, who has the season-high of 13 games recording a hit is on a two-game streak currently and is joined by Bottone and, Nicky Sackett and Henry Hayman.

Jared Schaeffer was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 22.
Throwing his first career complete game, Schaeffer helped lead the Akron Zips to a 7-2 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday, April 20.
The Sophomore righty went the full nine innings where he allowed just two unearned runs, none earned, walking none, allowing nine hits while tying his season-high for strikeouts with six k's against the Eagles.
PERKS OF THE JOB
Sean Perkins was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week on March 4 after picking up a win over No. 10/12 Duke.
Coming in down 2-1 against Duke in the second game of the series, Perkins pitched five innings of near-spotless baseball as the Zips defeated the No. 10/12 Blue Devils 4-3 on March 2. Throwing the final five innings, Perkins held his own with just two hits allowed along with one run and two strikeouts to earn the win. He sent Duke three-up-three down in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings and ended the ninth with a strikeout. Perkins also held Duke's hitters to a combined .118 batting average over the five innings of work.
ONE TO REMEMBER
Head coach Bryan Faulds collected his first win leading the Akron Zips in the second game of a doubleheader against Illinois on February 14. Down 4-2 heading to the bottom of the seventh, Akron battled to force extra-innings when Max Bowman sent a walk-off home run in the 11th inning to give the Zips a 5-4 victory.
ON DECK
Akron returns to conference action when it travels to Central Michigan for a three-game series starting May 3.
