Five Zips Score in Double Digits in Akron's 90-84 Loss to Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich - Five Zips scored at least 10 points, but Akron fell to the Western Michigan Broncos 90-84 on the road Friday.
The Zips (21-10, 13-5) had five players score in double figures, led by Greg Tribble, who had 18 points and five assists. Ali Ali added 17 points and six assists and Enrique Freeman chipped in as well with a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Akron offense was very productive from beyond the arc, knocking down nine threes on 22 attempts. Shammah Scott was the most prolific shooter for the Zips, draining three treys in the contest.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 24-19 advantage, Akron went on a 10-0 run with 5:44 left in the first half to increase its lead to 34-19. The Zips then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 45-31 advantage. Akron did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 24 of its 45 points close to the basket.
Western Michigan then erased the Akron lead in the game's final quarter for a 90-84 comeback victory. Akron got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 15 of its 39 total points.
