Freeman Sets Rebound Record - Scores 30 Points In MAC Tournament Win Over Miami

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Enrique Freeman became the program's all-time rebounder while scoring 30 point to  help lead the Zips past the Miami RedHawks 75-63 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Thursday.
Recording 12 rebounds against the RedHawks, Freeman passed Fred Golding to become the all-time leader in rebounds in Akron history. Freeman now stands at 1,361 career rebounds.
Freeman also recorded his 29th double-double while adding  three assists to his 30 point game to lead the Zips (22-10). Ali Ali helped out with 14 points and five assists and Greg Tribble chipped in with eight points and two steals.
Akron out-rebounded Miami (OH) 44-28 in Thursday's game, led by Freeman's 12 boards.
How It Happened
After falling behind 29-25, Akron went on an 8-0 run with 4:15 left in the first half to take a 33-29 lead. The Zips then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 37-35 advantage. Akron did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 32 of its 37 points close to the basket.
Following intermission, Akron kept widening that lead, expanding it to 61-53 before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 68-53 with 4:26 to go in the contest. The RedHawks narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Zips still cruised the rest of the way for the 75-63 win. Akron took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 38 points in the lane.
