Schaeffer Goes Eight Innings in Tight Loss to RedHawks on Thursday

AKRON, Ohio -- Jared Schaeffer had a solid effort on the hill on Thursday, but the Akron Zips fell 2-1 to the Miami (OH) RedHawks.
The solid outing from Schaeffer (0-5) was not enough for Akron (5-19, 1-9) as he went eight innings, giving up two runs, on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out one. Freshman Josiah Ross pitched the final inning where he allowed no runs with just one just a hit allowed and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got on the scoreboard first, starting in the fourth inning. Akron got on the board thanks to Henry Hayman's RBI double with one out. The Zips were unable to hold the lead, as Miami (OH) scored two times over the remaining five innings to grab the 2-1 win.
GAME NOTES

» Schaeffer put together eight innings of two-run ball for Akron.
