Five Zips Record Multiple Hits in Loss to Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio --The Akron Zips took a 6-4 lead into the eighth inning, but could not hang on and fell 11-6 to the Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday.
The Zips were led by Evan Bottone, who went 3-for-5 on the day with an RBI. Henry Hayman put together a 2-for-3 day with two RBI. Sam Seeker also chipped in for Akron, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
Yassir Kahook (1-1) came out of the bullpen for Akron (5-16, 1-7) and took the loss. Jack Kelley was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing four innings, giving up two runs, all earned, on two hits, with one walk and four strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the third inning. Akron got an RBI single from Bottone, scoring Michael Sprockett from third base.
The Falcons then scored three runs to retake their advantage heading into the fifth inning. Akron responded with a Max Bowman run-scoring single that highlighted an inning where the Zips scored twice.
Akron held the Falcons off the board before rallying to grab a 5-4 lead in the sixth. The Zips recorded two runs when a single from Hayman brought home Brayden Cavey and Seeker.
Akron kept the Falcons scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Zips scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Seeker, bringing the score to 6-4 in favor of Akron. The Zips were unable to hold the lead, as Bowling Green scored seven times over the remaining two innings to grab the 11-6 win.
