DURHAM, N.C. --Sophomore Dawson Tourney fanned six Duke hitters over four innings of work to help lead the Akron Zips past the No. 12 Blue Devils 4-3 on Saturday.

In addition to his six strikeouts, Tourney went four innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits and walking none for Akron (3-6). Junior Sean (1-0) also made an impact on the mound for the Zips, throwing five innings, giving up one run on two hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Senior Max Bowman led the way offensively for the Zips, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a triple and a walk. Junior Sam Seeker put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Junior Fisher Pyatt also contributed, going 1-for-3 for Akron with a double and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Akron got on the board thanks to Seeker's RBI double with one out.

The Zips kept the deficit at 2-1 before taking the lead in the sixth. which brought the score to 4-2 in favor of the Zips. Duke put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Akron still held on for the 4-3 win. 59 92 20 13 4
