Enrique Freeman Named to the Associated Press All-America Team

AKRON, Ohio -Â Amidst a record-breaking season, Enrique Freeman was named to the Associated Press All-America Team on Tuesday, March 19 as an Honorable Mention.
Freeman becomes the fourth AP All-American, following Len Paul (1971-72), Romeo Travis (2006-07), and Isaiah Johnson (20016-17). He is the 16th player in program history to achieve All-America status.
Freeman was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, an All-MAC First Team selection, All-MAC Defensive Team selection, an All-MAC Tournament Team selection, MAC Tournament MVP and was named MAC Player of the Week eight times this season.
He is among the final five finalists for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year and is on the Oscar Robertson Award All-America Watchlist.Â
This season, Freeman is averaging 18.6 points, 12.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.8 steals per game in addition to 60 total blocks.
He became the all-time leader in rebounds this season along with being No. 2 in career blocks, and No. 3 in all-time scoring. He is also one double-double away from tying the NCAA single-season record of 31 set by David Robinson from Navy in 1986.
Freeman registered 30 double-doubles this season, ranking 1st in the NCAA, and is the only player in the MAC to average a double-double. He is 1-of-15 players in Div. I to average a double-double and has recorded 20+ points and 10+ rebounds 15 times. Freeman recorded 11 consecutive double-doubles from Nov. 28 to Jan. 16  as well as tallying 15 straight from Jan. 23 through March 15.
