CLARKSVILLE, TN --Sophomore Haley Croyle and freshman Macy Walters combined to toss a shutout on Sunday as the Akron Zips blanked the Rhode Island Rams 4-0.

Croyle (3-6) started and picked up the win for Akron (7-10), going 5.1 shutout innings while giving up four hits, walking one, and striking out three. Walters was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going 1.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out one.

In the batter's box, the Zips were led by sophomore Meagan Lee, who went 3-for-3 on the day with an RBI. Sophomore Brooke Sivek compiled a standout effort as well, going 2-for-3. Freshman Sophia Wygast also contributed for Akron, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips took the lead for good in the first. Freshman Morgan Sizemore's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Akron.

The Zips then tacked on runs in the fifth inning when they scored twice. Lee's run-scoring single highlighted the two-run frame.

GAME NOTES
