AKRON, Ohio – The 12th-ranked University of Akron rifle team will begin its postseason campaign this Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Zips travel to Columbus, Ohio, to compete in an NCAA Qualifier match versus No. 8 Nebraska and No. 11 Ohio State at 9 a.m.

All NCAA rife teams in the nation will participate in a qualifier match this weekend. This score will be added to the average of the top-three scores of the season to determine the final national rankings. Only the top-eight teams will be invited to the NCAA Championships to be hosted by West Virginia, March 8-9. The NCAA Selection Show is slated for Monday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.

Senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) leads the Zips this season posting team-best averages of 1179.36, 595.50 and 583.86, respectively, in the combined, air and smallbore rifles.

Scheduled to compete for the Zips are sophomore Andrew Duross (Marlborough, Mass.), juniors Rachel Engels (Meridian, Idaho) and Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.), sophomore Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.), Perkowski, seniors Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) and Samantha Shultz (Fort Wayne, Ind.), redshirt senior Brendan Seitz (Milford, Mass.) and sophomore Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.).
