Zips Fall to Milwaukee at Fiserv Forum on Sunday

MILWAUKEE, Wis -The Akron men's basketball team scored 34 points off of turnovers, but fell 100-81 to the Milwaukee Panthers at UWM Panther Arena Sunday.
The Zips (6-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Tavari Johnson, who had 22 points and two steals. Nate Johnson tacked on 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals and Sharron Young chipped in as well with 11 points and three steals off the bench.
The Akron offense was impressive from three-point land, pouring in eight threes on 20 attempts. Young hit three treys for the Zips in the contest.
Akron forced 22 Milwaukee turnovers while committing 17 themselves in Sunday's game. The Zips turned those takeaways into 34 points on the offensive end of the floor. Young's three steals led the way for Akron.
How It Happened
Akron struggled out of the gate, falling behind 58-45 heading into halftime.
After intermission, Akron kept the Panthers from increasing their lead before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Nate Johnson's layup, to shrink the deficit to 68-63 with 11:38 to go in the contest. Milwaukee responded and outscored the Zips the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 100-81. Akron took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 36 points in the lane.

The Zips return to action on December 20 when they take on Yale in the first game of the Don Haskin Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. Akron will then battle either UTEP or Jackson State on December 21.
