Akron 2025 Softball Schedule Released

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron softball program unveiled its Spring 2025 schedule, including 56 total games and 15 home contests at Lee. R. Jackson Field.

Akron will be on the road for the first 26 games of the season, traveling to Spartanburg, S.C. for the USC Upstate tournament to open the 2025 campaign. The Zips are scheduled to battle Monmouth in the season opener at 10 a.m. on Feb. 7 and will play the hosts at 12:30 p.m. Similar schedule on day two as Akron plays Monmouth (Feb. 8) and USC-Upstate (Feb. 8). The Zips will also play Mid-American Conference foe Bowling Green (Feb. 9) in a non-league contest for opening weekend at the USC Upstate tournament.

The Zips will spend 14 days in Texas. First, Akron appears in Stephenville, Texas for five games, playing South Dakota State (Feb. 14), Houston Christian (Feb. 14), Austin Peay (Feb. 15) and a double header against Tarleton (Feb. 16). The Zips will play six games in San Antonio against Incarnate Word (Feb. 18), Texas San Antonio (Feb. 20), Sam Houston State (Feb. 21), Michigan State & Omaha (Feb. 22), St. Thomas (Feb. 23) and one game in Austin against Texas (Feb. 19).

The Blue and Gold will play a similar schedule in Kentucky, starting with the Eastern Kentucky tournament where the Zips will play Illinois Chicago (Feb. 28), Dayton (Feb. 28 and March 1) and EKU (March 1-2). The Zips return to the Bluegrass State to play Murray State and Cleveland State (March 7-8).

On March 14-15, Akron is scheduled for a three-game home stand against Ball State, a weekend serving as the home and MAC openers. Then, The Zips travel for a non-conference game at Purdue Fort Wayne (March 18) followed by a league series at Central Michigan (March 21-22). In addition, Akron will play Ohio State (March 26) and Toledo (March 28-29) before returning to the Rubber City.

The Zips play 12 of 15 home games in April and May, starting with a six-game homestand against Bowling Green (April 1), Ohio (April 5-6) and Dayton (April 8). Akron travels to Miami (April 15) before hosting Western Michigan (April 19-20). The Zips are on the road for five league games against Northern Illinois (April 25-26) and Buffalo (April 29) before closing out regular season play at home against rival Kent State (May 3-4).
