MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The University of Akron track and field team registered three victories as part of 10 overall top-three performances at the West Virginia Last Chance Meet on Saturday (May 6).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Junior Haruki Sakai (Katori, Japan) won the men's long jump with a career-best mark of 24-3.75 (7.41m).
• Freshman Josiah Cox (New Franklin, Ohio) captured the men's shot put with a career-best throw of 54-2.75 (16.63m).
• Sophomore Emily Razo (Salem, Ohio) bested the field in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:00.92.
UP NEXT:
Akron hosts the Mid-American Conference Championships at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex from Thursday through Saturday, May 11-13.
