AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron redshirt sophomore William Gross (Newfane, N.Y.) posted a season-best mark of 213-8 (65.13m) to capture the men's hammer and headline the Zips' efforts on the opening day of the Northeast Ohio Open on Friday, April 7 at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Zips garnered the top-three finishes in the men's hammer as Gross, redshirt senior Milton Wilson (Streetsboro, Ohio) and redshirt junior Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) posted throws of 213-8 (65.13m), 205-3 (62.56m) and 197-3 (60.13m), respectively.
• Wilson's performance stands as a career-best effort and the No. 4 mark in outdoor program history
• Redshirt junior Laurel Bristow (Pittsburgh, Ohio) placed second in the women's javelin with a mark of 140-7 (42.86m).
• Redshirt sophomore Jacob Glavickas (Orwell, Ohio) posted a career-best throw of 169-9 (51.73m) to finish fifth in the men's javelin.
