COLUMBUS, Ohio – University of Akron redshirt sophomore Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) won the men's pole vault eclipsing a meet-record mark of 18-3.25 (5.57m) to headline the Zips' performances on the final day of the Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday (April 22).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Senior Charles Sanders (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished third in the men's 400 meters crossing the line in 48.39.
• Redshirt junior Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) crossed the line in 2:12.48 to place third in the women's 800 meters.
• Senior Amya Clarke (Christ Church, St. Kitts and Nevis) registered a time of 11.76 to finish fifth in the women's 100 meters.
UP NEXT:
Akron will compete at the Ashland Alumni Open on Friday and Saturday (April 28-29).
