LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Akron redshirt junior Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) placed fourth in the women's 800 meters in a time of 2:11.78 to highlight the Zips' performances on the final day of the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on Saturday (April 15).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Heimlich finished fourth in the women's 800 meters, while redshirt sophomore Maddie Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) crossed the line in 2:15.88 to finish 10th.
• Sophomore Oscar Prieto (Barcelona, Spain) eclipsed a career-best 17-3.50 (5.27m) to place fourth in the men's pole vault.
• Freshman Benjamin Hudak (Tallmadge, Ohio) added a career-best time of 49.86 in the men's 400 meters.
• Freshman Tai'Yanna Cage recorded a career-best time of 12.76 in the women's 100 meters to lead the Zips in the event.
UP NEXT:
Akron is scheduled to compete at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State next weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Heimlich finished fourth in the women's 800 meters, while redshirt sophomore Maddie Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) crossed the line in 2:15.88 to finish 10th.
• Sophomore Oscar Prieto (Barcelona, Spain) eclipsed a career-best 17-3.50 (5.27m) to place fourth in the men's pole vault.
• Freshman Benjamin Hudak (Tallmadge, Ohio) added a career-best time of 49.86 in the men's 400 meters.
• Freshman Tai'Yanna Cage recorded a career-best time of 12.76 in the women's 100 meters to lead the Zips in the event.
